2021 GLITCH: PIXEL LANGUAGE. Bavan Gallery. Tehran, Iran
Zurvan takes its name from the ancient Zoroastrian deity symbolizing time and infinity—forces that, in the digital age, become fragmented, accelerated, and abstracted beyond recognition. Through a fusion of artificial intelligence, databending, and glitch aesthetics, the work reflects on how temporal perception is reshaped by technological systems.
The video reinterprets Persian miniature paintings, each frame processed and corrupted through algorithmic manipulation. These once-stable historical images collapse into shifting digital forms, challenging the viewer’s sense of continuity, authorship, and memory. In Zurvan, tradition is not erased but destabilized—folded into a temporal loop where the sacred, the artificial, and the broken coexist.
